Storm & Waste Water Control

Storm water is runoff water from rain and snow. It flows across our driveways, parking lots and streets into storm drains. In this process it picks up oils, pet waste, trash, leaves and other contaminants. Storm water does not flow into the Portneuf River, it flows directly into the ground. A small portion goes into the irrigation canal system.

The federal Clean Water Act and Safe Drinking Water Act requires the City to manage storm water runoff to protect water quality in our streams, and protect the quality of our ground water as a drinking water resource.
