The City of Chubbuck’s Branch Chipping program has been Cancelled.

The Playground equipment is closed at all City Parks, Please do not remove the caution tape to allow your children to play on the closed equipment.

City parks and trails are still available for use by residents. Officials continue to recommend citizens maintain appropriate social distancing of 6 feet or more.

In an effort to slow the spread of COVID-19, the City of Chubbuck Parks and Recreation Department will be closing all playgrounds and restrooms in the city’s park system effectively immediately.

ALL Public Meetings to be held electronically or by phone.

Effective Immediately, All City Council, Chubbuck Development Authority, and Land Use and Development Meetings will be conducted via Zoom Teleconferencing, in accordance with a Proclamation signed by Governor Little on March 13, 2020 suspending section 74-203(5) and requiring ALL Public Meetings to be held electronically or by phone.

Residents are encouraged to participate in all City Meetings via distant platforms.

Mayor’s Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency

MAYOR’S DECLARATION OF LOCAL DISASTER EMERGENCY

WHEREAS, Idaho Code § 46-1011 allows the Mayor of a city to declare a local disaster emergency; and

WHEREAS, Idaho Code § 46-1002(2) defines “disaster” as the “imminent threat of widespread or severe damage, injury, or loss of life or property resulting from any natural or manmade cause, including but not limited to fire, flood, earthquake, windstorm, wave action, volcanic activity, explosion, riot, or hostile military or paramilitary action and including acts of terrorism;” and

WHEREAS, the imminent threat of widespread and severe harm to the health of residents and visitors to the City of Chubbuck as addressed by the Centers for Disease Control and by actions of the Governor of the state of Idaho constitutes a “disaster”; and

WHEREAS, a declaration activates the response and recovery aspects of applicable local or intergovernmental disaster emergency plans for the furnishing of aid and assistance; and

WHEREAS, Idaho Code § 46-1002(3) provides that an “emergency” includes the imminent threat to life or property which requires state emergency assistance to supplement local efforts to protect well-being or property or to avert or lessen the threat of “disaster;” and

WHEREAS, the emergency referenced herein exists because the contagious nature and potentially serious consequences of the COVID-19 virus for residents and visitors to the City of Chubbuck and requires state emergency assistance to supplement local efforts to protect life, health and property; and

WHEREAS, Idaho Code § 67-2808 authorizes the Council of the City of Chubbuck to declare an emergency and that the public interest and necessity may demand the immediate expenditure of public money without compliance with formal bidding procedures; and

WHEREAS, an emergency declaration must be filed with the county recorder’s office and “given prompt and general publicity.”

NOW THEREFORE, I, Kevin B. England, the Mayor of the City of Chubbuck do hereby declare:

That a Local Disaster Emergency exists and that all efforts will be made to protect the citizens and property of the City of Chubbuck through activation of all local disaster emergency plans and state emergency assistance; and

That this Local Disaster Emergency shall expire within seven (7) days unless the City Council expressly authorizes the continuance of such Declaration; and

That this Declaration of Local Disaster Emergency (“Declaration”) shall be promptly filed with the Bannock County Recorder’s Office; and

That prompt and general publicity shall be given by press release notifying the public of this Declaration.

Utility Payments

With the current situation concerning COVID-19 and in an effort to protect our Citizens and our Employees the City of Chubbuck is encouraging, if possible, utility payments to be made electronically.

You can make an electronic payment through our office using Direct Pay, you can utilize Auto Pay through our third party administrator, Xpress Bill Pay, or you could utilize and electronic bill pay platform through your financial institution.

The City of Chubbuck does offer a $5 dollar discount if you chose the Direct Pay option.

If you are paying by check the City of Chubbuck encourages you to mail the payment using the envelope provided with your utility bill. We also have a drop box available in our parking lot that is accessible from your vehicle and a drop box in our lobby.

Please, if possible use one of these alternatives to the window for making your payment.
