Chubbuck Adopts Strategic Plan Outlining Goals for the Next 5 Years

The City of Chubbuck recently adopted its first strategic plan reflecting residents’ input to establish performance goals and metrics from fiscal year 2019 through 2024. Entitled “Our CommUNITY: A great place to live, work, and raise a family”, the plan has 10 vision elements: Vibrant and Aesthetic Neighborhoods; Diversity, Inclusion, and Unification; Participatory Governance; Effective, Efficient, and Economical Government; Safety and Preparedness; Strong Economy; Healthy Residents; Multi-modal Transportation Accessibility; Thriving Youth and Children; and Growing Arts, Cultural, and Recreational Opportunities. Each vision element includes objectives and performance measures to track progress toward established goals.

The City engaged residents and non-residents through surveys via social media, utility mailers, and randomized mailers and even through computer labs at Highland High School.   Once surveys were compiled and analyzed, each department head in the City had opportunities to provide feedback to identify needs and to develop measures to address the needs. Once a plan was drafted, several versions were provided to the City Council for feedback and ultimately, approval.

“Through feedback of residents, technical staff, and elected officials, we have developed a short-term plan that is intended to be a living document,” stated Mayor Kevin England. “Unlike the more long-term Comprehensive Plan, we intend to review the Strategic Plan annually and to adjust our plan of action if needed in order to satisfy our 5 year goals. This plan is a great example of the Chubbuck community coming together to better position itself for the future.”
