RECYCLING DOS AND DON’TS (DO NOT BAG RECYCLABLES)!
Accepted Items:
Paper – newspapers, magazines, phone books, catalogs, office paper, note pads, index cards, coated paper, brochures, junk mail, envelopes, manila folders.
Plastic – all bottles marked with #1 or #2 recycle symbols that have been rinsed and their caps securely fastened.
Metal – tin and aluminum cans that have been rinsed of contents.
Cardboard – moving boxes, shipping boxes, cereal boxes, frozen food boxes, other food packaging boxes, paper towel cores.
Not Accepted:
Paper – shredded paper, paper towels, tissues, paper plates, tissue paper, cellophane paper, wax-coated beverage containers (milk cartons, juice boxes, etc.).
Plastic – plastic bags (garbage bags, grocery bags, water softener salt bags), plastics marked with #3 through #7 recycle symbols (deli trays, clam shells, yogurt containers, cottage cheese containers, etc.), plastic utensils, potato chip bags, PVC and ABS pipe, plastic wrap, bubble wrap, cereal box liners.
Metal – aerosol cans, fence posts, auto parts, plumbing parts, pipe.
Hazardous Material – Medical waste, animal waste, human waste, any container that has been filled with paint, pesticides, herbicides or petroleum products.
Other – food waste, yard waste, packaging materials (peanuts, Styrofoam, etc.), Styrofoam containers, batteries, diapers, toys, clothing, carpet, foam, rubber, ceramic containers, string, glass, furnace filters
