Land Use and Development Commission

The Land Use and Development Commission was lawfully created by the City Council through Chubbuck Ord. 77 § 1-1, 1968 as found in municipal code Chapter 28, Title 2 and its duties and functions are synonymous with the duties and powers of “planning and zoning commissions”, “planning commissions”, “zoning commissions” as found in Idaho Code, Chapter 65, Title 67. Through citizen meetings, hearings, surveys, and other methods, the Commission performs such duties and functions and promotes such purposes as are enumerated in Chapter 65, Title 67, Idaho Code, and in municipal codes including:

· Recommending legislative changes (textual and mapping) related to land-use regulations and the Comprehensive Plan to the City Council;

· Recommending certain land use applications to the City Council;

· Reviewing conditional use permits and variances; and

· Reviewing land development applications.

The Land Use and Development Commission also serves as the Impact Fee Advisory Committee.

As always, we encourage you to participate in upcoming Land Use meetings held on the second Tuesday of each month at 6pm.

These deadlines apply to all projects requiring a public hearing:

  • Conditional use permit (including major modifications)
  • Zoning map change or text amendment to City Code
  • Zoning designation upon annexation
    • Annexation does not require a public hearing, but the zoning does
    • Annexation application is filed at the same time as zone designation
  • Comprehensive Plan Amendment (map or text)
  • Variance
  • Design Review (may be submitted at any time)
